Red Bull Mixers

This June the Red Bull Flugtag makes a welcome return to London’s Hyde Park where 40 teams of fearless inventors will compete for the coveted winner’s prize by designing, constructing and flying their man-powered machines into The Serpentine lake.

Being sponsored by Dovetail, one of the 40 entrants, The Mixennium Falcon from The Wrong Brothers team, is being piloted by none other than Mix magazine main man – Mick Jordan. Undoubtedly an exhilarating celebration of invention and down-right silliness will be on offer, as Mick and the team launch their home-made flying machine from a 20-foot ramp into the chilly waters below to compete for the coveted title of Red Bull Flugtag Champion 2008. Ian Weddell, MD of Dovetail had this to say about the sponsorship “Mick’s always been a high-flyer, we’re very optimistic.᾿

The competition will be judged on distance flown and level of creativity.  Points will also be awarded for the entertainment value of the pre-flight performance. Originality will be key when trying to sway the votes of the both the celebrity judges and the crowd.

 

The event  takes place on Saturday 7^th June, tickets are free but limited to 80,000. Anyone hoping for a ticket should register for the ballot at www.redbullflugtag.co.uk.
