Dovetail wins Red Dot

Six months on from the launch of the furniture dealer’s new identity, Dovetail has won a highly coveted Red Dot award for Communication Design.

Having worked with design agency 999 Design on the visual representation of the company- from a new logo device, corporate literature and web-site through to the “Seamless thinking"strap line -Dovetail have re-invented themselves, the new identity reflecting their status as one of the country’s leading furniture solutions providers.

“The value we bring to end-user clients and to architects is the ability to coordinate and proactively manage every aspect of a project and installation, to provide the consistent thread that ties all the constituent parts together. The new logo with the thread and the new strap line ‘seamless thinking’ perfectly encapsulates this capability," explained Ian Weddell, Managing Director of Dovetail.

Teresa Monachino, Design Director from 999 Design, concluded, “It was a joy to work on this project, the client was both creative and imaginative and open to exploring the dramatic shift from their  existing look and feel. We established 'seamless thinking' as a theme to connect the different aspects of the Dovetail offering while also providing us with plenty of creative opportunities for the future."

The international “red dot design award��? ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world, attracting almost 6,000 submissions from 52 countries in 2006 alone.

Each year an international jury reviews and evaluates the submitted products according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality and the formal quality. The group of jurors is made up of renowned designers and design experts from all over the world who reach their decisions on which designs are good enough to receive a red dot award independently and impartially.

The Gala awards ceremony for the Red Dot awards will be held on 6 December in Essen, Germany.
